On the 10th of November 1938 at 9:05 Mustafa Kemal Atatürk died in Dolmabace Palace in Istanbul which ended his 15 years of Presidency.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is a great figure in Turkish history- army officer in Ottoman military, the first President of Turkey. He is considered as the founder of Turkish Republic.

The surname of Atatürk (meaning “Father of the Turks”), was given to him in 1934 and forbidden to any other person by the Turkish parliament.

10th of November is extremely important day for Turkish people and every year to put tribute to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk at 9:05 the life stops for a while. People are holding on with their work, cars honk their horns.
It is common to see people walking with Turkish flags as well as you can see huge queue of people waiting in front of Dolmabahce Palace who would like to visit a place of Atatürk’s death.

Atatürk has said: “One day my mortal body will turn to dust, but the Turkish Republic will stand forever”
It is hard to find another leader who would be so respected and loved by the citizens of the country who keep his legacy and by this giving Atatürk an eternal life.
